the use of clay as a medium for designing and making products for resale is very challenging. you learn very quickly that clay has a life and mind of it's own. every different kind of clay has it's own character, both in how it responds to your processes and then how it continues to behave once your part is complete.

the fact that everything we make is done by hand means that every single item, albeit designed the same will be unique.

we love this about the work we do, it is a gentle reminder that working collaboratively with this quiet natural power is far more rewarding than trying to dominate it.

on colour   on glaze   on size   on lead times

the colours are determined by the different clays we use. the subtle variations between products of the same colour are as a result of the firing process and should be expected.

where items have rough finishes they are glazed in functional areas. all glazes are lead free and for fine for food use.
different clays shrink to varying degrees once fired, expect a tolerance of a few mm's on any given dimension.

we make to order so delivery times can vary from 2 weeks to 6 weeks. this is very much dependent on the size and complexity of the order.

colour samples

the colour samples on this site are guidelines and may vary according to different computer monitors.

each item in this site will have a key to show you which clays and finishes we suggest for that piece.
