nicola harris design started in sep 1998 when we moved into our studio space at buchanan square, sharing it initially and then expanding gradually to use the whole area, including this incredible view of district six and table mountain. the complex houses a interesting combination of businesses, ranging from eco- architects to NGO's and film studios. it's a red face brick national monument which was once an armoury and then a chocolate factory.

martin born 15th august 1977/ harare, zimbabwe
started his working life as a brick layer and in craft making, where he learned skills in wire work and beadmaking. he followed his brothers, paul and richard, to south africa in feb 2003. and came to us in nov of the same year. he has picked up the skill of clay work very quickly and says " it is very challenging, you have to love what you do."

mthetho born 6th june 1984/ duncan, east london
mthetho came to save us in oct 2004 when we had a large order to complete. he had never touched clay before and by his own admission was very scared of all this new stuff. but martin took him under his wing and taught him how to get the "bull face" when wedging clay and now he says that he is "in love with it!" and... learned not to be so scared of new things.
